Department Summary Campus Planning & Facilities Management (CPFM) supports a quality university experience through: The operations, maintenance and cleaning of campus buildings, building-systems, utilities, equipment, and grounds. Our customers are the students, faculty, and staff of the university, campus visitors, and the employees of CPFM.
We guide the development of the campus through the creation of buildings, open spaces, and plans that protect and continue the legacy we have inherited.
Position Summary The purpose of this position is to provide design, implementation and field support of capital projects for the Engineering and Energy team. This may include: investigation of system failures, research and implementation of corrective action, and assisting colleagues with design of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems for small projects and renovations.
Interactions/contacts occur daily with the campus and larger community in the course of performing work and responding to emergencies.
Position works as a member of a team while frequently performing tasks independently. Decisions may be made about the best method and materials necessary to ensure continuous flow of utilities in normal and emergency situations. They may also include setting priorities and troubleshooting, restoring utilities when lost, assessing customer needs and responding to those needs. Position may coordinate the work of students.
Work is reviewed regularly by the Supervisor to ensure it is performed efficiently, safely, and meets both expectations and applicable requirements. A performance appraisal is conducted annually.
Minimum Requirements • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management Engineering, or Energy Management; or
• An Associate’s degree in engineering or a related technical area such as Civil Engineering, Building Construction, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Structural Engineering and two years of engineer-type experience which includes project field data collection and analysis; estimating project costs; and designing projects with specification development and material selection; or • An equivalent combination of related training and experience.
