The Manager, Arena Operations supervises maintenance activities in the arena and coordinates use of the facility with Bentley Athletics and the larger Bentley Community. Work includes directing and coordinating facility personnel, subcontractors, and daily activities involved in the successful preparation and execution of events at the arena. The incumbent acts a liaison between the facility, the Bentley community and potentially external clients. The incumbent ensures a balance of all activities, keeping in mind both the needs of the users as well as adherence to the facility rules, regulations and policies.

Facility Operation Plans, implements and supervises all maintenance activities for the arena, including creation and maintenance of quality ice; set-up for events; equipment purchase, replacement and maintenance; maintenance of audio-video equipment; maintenance of sundry equipment and installation and maintenance of arena seating.
Oversees installation, maintenance and breakdown of arena ice surface and arena deck floor.
Works closely with Facilities personnel and contractors to ensure arena is clean and safe, and meets regulatory requirements.
Management Supervises student, temporary, or regular employees. Duties include hiring, training, assigning, overseeing and evaluating work. Approve and submit time reporting.
Supervises an ice re-surfacing training program to maintain an adequate supply of back-up operators.
Develop and maintain policies and procedures for arena operations and staff.
Business Operations In conjunction with Financial Operations and VP of Student Affairs, develop and maintain annual operating budget for the arena.
Inventories and requisitions supplies and equipment for arena operations.
Maintains records on all maintenance and repairs to arena machinery and equipment. Works closely with Bentley Facilities staff regarding the time frame, needs and storage of all the warranty information, instruction manuals and vendor contacts.
Coordinate with vendors managing concession (Sodexo) and merchandising sales (Barnes & Noble).
Client Service/Operations Coordinates arena scheduling; acts as a liaison with University and outside arena users regarding scheduling, set-up, operation and clean-up of non-athletic department events.
Develops training and role models behavior to ensure excellent customer service is provided to guests and user groups of the arena.
Acts as liaison to coaches and others using the arena facility.
Responsible for game management operations for intercollegiate athletic events.
Collaborate with Athletics and Marketing & Communications personnel to promote arena usage, programs, and events.
Minimum Qualifications(Education and Experience Requirements)
Bachelor's degree from accredited four-year college or university.
Minimum of 5 years of related experience managing a multi-purpose sports and entertainment venue, with experience in a supervisory or management position.
Knowledge of functions, operations and equipment of a multi-purpose sports and entertainment facility, including audio-visual systems.
Must have working knowledge of ice plant, HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical and computer energy management systems.
Knowledge of safety practices and all applicable safety standards for public facilities.
Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
Proven ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities. Must be available to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work with diverse groups of people.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain productive, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Experience installing and maintaining an NHL size ice rink preferred. Knowledge of Zamboni and ice making equipment preferred.
Previous experience in a professional or NCAA sports environment preferred but not required.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle objects and office tools, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
