The director will be able to perform work requiring keen judgment in the day to day operations of the Facilities and Fleet Management Departments. The position is responsible for strategic direction, work assignments, managing projects, construction, renovations, reviewing, monitoring, supervising and directing the activities of all staff involved in facilities and fleet maintenance. The position must ensure that the company’s physical assets are maintained at a high degree of readiness to support operations at all locations including main campus, facilities, and donor centers.
The position also is accountable for elevators, HVAC, blood storage freezers & refrigerators, housekeeping, landscaping, grounds, parking, building security, and general employee safety. This position is subject to “On Call” duties.
EDUCATION - Bachelor’s degree from four year college or university in an area of relevant study such as Industrial Technology, Business, Architecture, Engineering, or Construction required. - Degree specialized in building management is a plus - Additional education in accounting preferred
EXPERIENCE - 8-10 years of job-related experience including supervisory experience - Must have the experience of using computer applications related to building and security management. - Must have a minimum 3-5 years in building and equipment maintenance with supervisory experience, good mechanical, analytical and communication skills, and capable of handling multiple tasks - Must possess a valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record - Must have the knowledge of vehicle management with experience in a supervisory capacity. - Preferred completion of a technical program in stationary engineering or related field.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE - Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public; be able to influence or persuade others and to listen well. - Must have excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions. - Ability to define problem, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. - Ability to make decisions quickly on available information. - Ability to deal with emergencies when necessary; to take action in solving problems while exhibiting judgment and a realistic understanding of the issues.
