Performs and/or designs architectural and engineering work for design, design review, project management, related to permanent improvements, renovations, & other projects in general construction, maximum of $1M per project. Provide cost estimates for permanent improvements, renovations, or other such projects being considered by departments on campus. Support other Facilities organizations and projects with main emphasis on HVAC Design & Engineering. Perform other duties as required.
40% - Essential - Project Manager: Prepares contract and bid documents, reviews amendments and change orders, and approves payment requests. Procures construction services and equipment and materials. On new construction maximum budget $500K, and on renovations budget maximum $1M. Creates work orders. Schedules/coordinates material take-offs, project phasing, outages and disruptions. Recommends design modifications. Performs continual on-site inspection of construction activities and follow-up with customer throughout project to ensure quality, timeliness, and budget expectations are met. Conducts final project walk-through with customer. Maintenance and Custodial personnel are informed of project status.
35% - Essential - Design/Estimate: Develops scope for construction and renovation projects in campus buildings. Provides design, permits and specifications for general construction, (HVAC), mechanical, plumbing & electrical systems as needed. Provides drawings and specifications using AutoCAD/Revit and other computer applications. Ensures compliance with applicable codes and standards. Estimates labor and material requirements, and project schedule. Procures design services by contract as needed. Facilities Trade Areas and Custodial workers are consulted to ensure maintainability. Assists codes official in collection of data required to implement projects for departments and other project managers.
20% - Essential - Document: Maintains records of construction documents (budgets, communications, contracts, change orders, drawings/specs, meetings, invoices, payments, purchase orders, etc.) Prepares reports. Documents project progress/ management time. Adds new equipment and deletes old equipment in building equipment database. Provides as-built drawings to vault coordinator to reflect physical changes of each project. Reviews project upon completion to compare estimated with actual labor, materials, and duration. Completes and closes project in CMMS system.
5% - Essential - Safety: Promotes a safe workplace and safe work practices. Responsible for compliance with all applicable OSHA safety mandates and enforcement of Clemson's LOTO policy, excavation safety and confined space entry safety. Adheres to all EPA/DEHEC rules.
A bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture or engineering technology and journey-level engineering or architectural work experience. A master's degree in engineering or architecture and entry-level engineering or architectural work experience may be substituted for the required experience.

Employees who are in time limited positions will earn one and one-quarter days of Annual and Sick Leave per month for a total of thirty (30) days per year. Eligible part-timers will earn days on a pro rata basis.
