This position works with Operating Engineers and other trade staff within the Central Plant Operations unit, performing the inspection, efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of campus thermal systems, related plant equipment, water treatment systems as well as maintenance and repair of campus domestic water & sewer distribution systems, and campus gas utility distribution systems within the domain of the Facilities Management Division. This position under the direction of the Assistant Chief and 1st Class Engineers works interdependently to resolve facility issues and customer concerns, while ensuring good public relations and department image through personal contacts and assurance of quality standards to provide exceptional customer service, and a safe, functional, clean, efficient and attractive living and learning environment.

High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
3rd Class DC Steam Engineers license (non restricted)
Preferred Educational Requirements:
Facilities Management Certificate
LEED Green Associate
2 years of experience in a central plant operation performing duties consistent with a 3rd Class Steam Engineer
1-2 years of Energy Management Usage
Microsoft Office skills & email usage
2-3 years Troubleshooting HVAC Systems & Central Plant
Ability to Read Blueprints
Ability to work in confined spaces & areas with temperature extremes
Ability to lift at least 50lbs.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license with fewer than 2 points and be approved for university driving privileges
