Pay Grade: 41 Hiring Range: Salary Commensurate with Education and Experience JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Facility Manager serves as the primary emergency responder for facility emergencies at the UTHSC-cGMP Facility (Plough Center). This position oversees the maintenance, operation, and repairs of all facility utility systems and the mechanical and cGMP process equipment. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Monitors all major equipment and log readings as described in building Standard Operating Procedures. Notifies Plough Center facility manager of emergencies. Checks all mechanical systems and structural integrity of the building on a routine basis for problems or abnormalities. Troubleshoots and repairs problems found or notifies campus facilities and coordinates repair by outside vendor. Tests, decontaminates and changes all pre-filters and HEPA filters. Collaborates with campus facilities to perform routine testing of emergency power and generator, to alter, validate and test control sequences, and to operate HVAC controls during decontamination of facility as needed. Operates ClorDisys system during gaseous decontamination of various rooms and filter banks inside the Plough Center. Maintains written documentation of all maintenance and repairs for inclusion. Ensures all preventative maintenance procedures are performed in a timely manner and are compliant with regulatory requirements. Coordinates repairs and routine maintenance with outside vendors (elevator, plumbing, electrical, roof, deionized water system, painting, and others as required). Monitors HVAC daily. Performs or schedules required adjustments, preventive maintenance, and repairs to HVAC equipment as needed. Responds to problems and alarms immediately. Documents work and disseminate information to appropriate parties. Performs testing for pressure, DP sensors, the fire alarm system, and other mechanical systems identified as needed. Performs annual certification of biosafety cabinets, HEPA banks and Allentown caging equipment. Addresses the needs of facility users and performs specialized duties on the UTHSC campus as assigned.
Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in mechanical, electrical technology, or related field of study (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of experience in HVAC controls; OR Associate's degree in mechanical, electrical technology, or related field of study, nine (9) years of experience in HVAC controls. Working knowledge with cGMP equipments such as autoclaves, lyophilizers, compressed air systems, clean steam generators, Water for Injection grade water system, chilled water systems. Required extensive knowledge of validating cGMP Depyrogenation ovens and Freeze driers executing IQ, OQ and PQ. Preferably specialized in the field of Sterilization, Lyophilization, Depyrogenation, purified water system and clean-air validation and verification using thermo-mapping equipment to validate small, medium, and large sterilizer loads within the cGMP Pharmaceutical industry. Knowledge of HVAC control sequences, air handling units and exhaust fans maintenance and operation, and building heating systems maintenance and operation. Ability to operate HVAC specialty controls, to use all hand and power tools associated with the HVAC trade, to trouble shoot and diagnose problems in process equipment and mechanical equipment. Ability to read wiring diagrams, building plans and operation manuals. Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems sufficient to provide temporary repairs. Excellent problem solving, communication, and written skills. Experience with BSL3 HVAC systems, Johnson Controls HVAC systems, Phoenix Controls, and with test and balance of HVAC systems is preferred. Experience in training other personnel is preferred. Experience with maintenance tracking systems implementing preventative maintenance plans. This position serves as the primary emergency responder for facility emergencies either remotely via computer access or on-site on a rotational basis for nights, weekends and holidays.
