Advertised Summary Job Description: Reporting to the Manager of Trade Shops, the Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for insuring delivery of all maintenance services. Directs mechanics to perform all work, including building system repairs and preventive maintenance. Inspects and assures all contracted work and corrective maintenance tasks, as well as construction and improvements are in conformance with client expectations, specifications, or contract. Approves work for payment. Identifies work and directs staff to appropriately address tasks to maximize utility of all resources. Directs first response to request for service, ascertaining seriousness of call and appropriate level of response. Supports and implements University and departmental procedures and policies. Maintains inventory of supplies, tools and equipment. Interprets and administers collective bargaining agreements. In conjunction with Special Events, coordinates arrangements and preparation of physical areas for special events. Performs other related duties as required or as assigned.
General Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and/or the equivalent required. A minimum of 3-5 years of related experience required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required. Previous supervisory experience in unionized environment required. Conversant in statutory requirements of New York City and how they relate to building management.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications: Three to five years experience in business management and delivery of maintenance in customer service environment, and strong familiarity with building HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and structural systems highly desirable. Computer literacy preferred.
