Position: Skatium Ice Arena Facility Manager Salary: $68,666 to $80,000 starting range depending on experience and qualifications Closing Date: Until Filled
Duties: The Skatium Ice Arena Facility Manager is responsible for the overall facility management and day-to-day operations of the Skatium Ice Arena whcih includes complete management of operations, programs, maintenance, fiscal controls, budgeting and personnel. Duties include interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating and directly supervising five (5) full-time staff members that include the Skatium Ice Arena Supervisor, Skatium Customer Service Supervisor, Figure Skating Director, Hockey Director, and Custodial Supervisor. Oversees the supervision of all part-time staff that are under the direct supervision of full-time Skatium staff. Reviews and approves payroll for all Skatium staff. Promotes, plans, schedules, implements and evaluates all programs and special events offered at the Skatium Ice Arena. This includes the hockey program, figure skating program, learn-to-skate programs, open skate program and rentals. Develops all related facility program budgets; reviews monthly budget reports. Establishes program fees and associated rates. Prepares bids for capital projects. Prepares monthly Board reports. Works with public groups and affiliate organizations to enhance programs offered and promote the Skatium. Regularly inspects facility to ensure that the facility is meeting the District’s safety and cleanliness standards; takes corrective actions when needed. Oversees special event development, facility ice scheduling and facility maintenance projects. Maintains ice surfaces to established standards. Oversees Zamboni repair, and Zamboni maintenance. Plans and participates in facility inspections, preventative maintenance, ongoing maintenance and schedules maintenance of equipment with outside vendors as required. Assures that the Skatium is in compliance with District operational standards and that District policies and procedures are being followed. Serves as a member of the District’s Safety Committee and participates in other District committees as requested. This position is on call for building emergencies 24/7. Performs other duties as assigned.
Hours:Generally Monday through Friday, normal office hours. Depending on special events, may need to be present some evenings and/or weekends.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Parks and Recreation, Business Management or a related field. Prefer individual with at least five years of ice rink facility management experience along with experience supervising others. Mechanical aptitude is required. Must possess strong building mechanical knowledge which includes HVAC, compressors and other mechanical equipment necessary to the operation of an ice rink. Experience operating a Zamboni ice resurfacing machine is strongly desired along with knowledge of Zamboni maintenance. Other qualifications: Must have strong interpersonal, leadership, organizational, communication and customer service skills. Must possess a strong attention to detail to ensure facility is operating to the District's cleanliness, safety and operational standards. Must obtain and keep current CPR and AED certification through District provided training. If offered the position, must pass a physical, drug test, Illinois Drivers' License record check and criminal background check.
