Posting Summary: Facilities Management (FM) supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic and patient care programs. With over 1,200 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair and maintenance of U.Va.'s buildings, infrastructure and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties.
The Utility Systems Maintenance Manager has primary responsibility to lead the maintenance program for the Utility Department to meet safety, reliability, cost and operational goals of the department by implementing and executing maintenance and reliability best practices. This role includes direct management of supervisors and maintenance technicians, and program and budget responsibility for the planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance work associated with the utility Distribution. The Utility Systems Maintenance Manager is expected to drive planning/scheduling, reliability, maintenance effectiveness, distribution efficiency, and establish continuous improvement programs to drive departmental KPIs relevant to their area of responsibility.

Preferred Minimum Level of Education: Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Specific Degree/Training: BS in a technical, business or related field highly desired.
Required Minimum Level of Experience: Extensive - 7 years plus
Required Specific Experience: A minimum of seven years of experience in construction, renovation, maintenance, and/or management of infrastructure systems or maintenance organization, preferably in an institutional setting. A minimum of five years of supervisory experience is also required.

Preferred Specific Experience: Extensive experience in design, construction, renovation, maintenance, and/or management of infrastructure systems, preferably in an institutional setting.
Required License or Certification: Valid Driver's license.
Preferred License or Certification: Certified/licensed in the field of plumbing, mechanical, or related trade.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1. Must have considerable knowledge about materials and products, and the installation, repair, maintenance, and operations of various distribution systems. 2. Must be able to use design documents, apply technical knowledge, and direct work from plans and specifications. 3. Must have excellent communication skills.
