Assist other tradesmen with minor jobs while having the ability to use proper hand and power tools proficiently. Some duties may include patching and painting, moving furniture and equipment, and other similar tasks or related duties, including with shipping and receiving duties as assigned.
Minor carpentry work including the replacement and/or repair of doors and associated hardware, fabrication and installation of shelves, bulletin boards, installation and repair of window treatments, etc.. Repairing broken glass and installing new pieces as needed and replacing VCT floor tiles, ceiling tiles, carpet tiles and cove base.
The replacement, repair or changing of filters, grills, shafts, bearings, belts on all types of both movable and stationary equipment. Minor HVAC jobs including adjusting speeds, calibrating thermostats, checking drip pans in fan coils, air handlers, etc. and the cleaning of cooling towers.
Employee must perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance on pumps and motors. Lubricates and cleans pumps, motors, fans, machinery equipment and operating hardware
Must be able to clear pipe stoppages with the use of an auger or roto-rooter, repair flushometers and valves, and perform minor repairs to all plumbing facilities.
Troubleshoot problems and generate accurate stock lists for the jobs assigned.
Operate university vehicles.
Replaces defective bulbs in buildings or on the exterior areas of the Campus.
Maintains time records for inclusion into the Maintenance Management System.
Maintains plant or work areas in safe, clean operating condition.
Reports unsafe conditions, or building or equipment damage to supervisor.
Perform similar or related duties as assigned.
3 years' experience as a general or trades maintenance mechanic, or graduation from a recognized trade school and 2 years professional experience.
Valid Massachusetts Driver's License.
Must be able to read and comprehend the English language.
Must be able to read and comprehend construction drawings.
Candidate must be physically able to meet requirements
Knowledge of basic computer operating systems.
Previous use of Maximo a plus.
Special Work Schedule Requirements: Tuesday – Saturday, 8:00am to 4:00pm.
