This position performs inspection, operation, maintenance, and repair of campus thermal systems, related plant equipment, water treatment systems as well as maintenance and repair of campus domestic water and sewer distribution systems, and campus gas utility distribution systems within the domain of the Facilities Management Division. This position maintains records pertaining to the operation, maintenance and repair of these systems. This position is responsible for the proper storage and usage of tools and equipment used in repair operations. This position works to resolve facility issues and customer concerns, ensuring good public relations, a positive department image through personal contacts and assurance of quality standards to provide exceptional customer service, and a safe, functional, clean, efficient and attractive living and learning environment. This position supports in the resolution of after hours and weekend request received though the customer response center line (2Fix).
This position may work in areas which experience temperature extremes (i.e. heat or cold) or confined spaces in the performing of principle accountabilities for the position. Ability to lift 50 lbs. All university manager, supervisors, and trade positions are expected to perform duties other than those typically associated with core trade responsibilities as the needs of the university dictate. The incumbent must have the following educational achievements:
6th Class DC Steam Engineers license (obtain active non restricted license within 1 year from date of hire. Failure to fulfill this requirement will result to be disqualified for continuation of handling Class 6 - Engineer’s responsibilities)
GED or high school diploma or the equivalent
It is preferred that the incumbent have the following educational achievements:
Boiler Engineer Low Pressure Steam Training Diploma
1-2 years of College/Associate’s Degree
Facilities Management Certificate
Basic Microsoft Office skills and e-mail usage capability
Experience using basic hand tools
Experience using safety apparatus and personal protective equipment
Must maintain a valid driver license with fewer than 2 points
Basic water treatment / testing experience
Experience troubleshooting HVAC Systems
Experience in EMS usage
