SUMMARY: The Chief Engineer-Facilities will be responsible for the daily operations of the physical plant and engineering group within Facilities Management. It is the priority of this position to see that the safety and physical comfort of the patients, visitors, and staff is met and is aligned with the promise of Cook Children's. The Chief Engineer develops programs in compliance with established EOC standards and conducts regular surveillance to ensure the adequacy and effectiveness if these programs meet both hospital standards as well as the local AHJ (authority having jurisdiction). The Chief Engineer will oversee all facets of training and technical development of the Facilities Management staff. Works in tandem with the Assistant Director, Maintenance/Facilities to provide seamless to all customers of the Facilities Department.
QUALIFICATIONS: Four year degree from an accredited university preferred. Minimum of 10 years supervisory experience in facilities, healthcare, or business management capacity. CHFM required. Health Facility Management experience (facilities maintenance, operations, and engineering. Regulatory and accrediting agency standards (TJC, LSC, TDSHS). Performance improvement and evaluation methods. Financial budgeting and resource management. Engineering responsibilities require a thorough knowledge and understanding and the ability to use MEP documentation, BMS, CMMS functionality.
Ability to lead and facilitate diverse groups to achieve defined outcomes in a reasonable and efficient time frame. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Sound problem solving and analytical skills. Strong planning, organizing, prioritizing and delegating skills. Ability to utilize Microsoft office software.
