IPF Building Services Project Services invites applicants to apply for the position of Planner/Inspector/Analyst II. Project Services is responsible for all aspects of project management, design and technical support for multi-craft alterations, improvements and maintenance projects. The department also manages a variety of campus emergencies. Work is primarily self-performed by in-house labor and open order contractors.
This position will provide conceptual planning, design and prepares cost estimates of new construction, mechanical and plumbing; inspects alterations, improvements, and construction projects to ensure compliance with University standards for mechanical and plumbing work; provides technical support; analyzes problems and recommends solutions; prepares design plans and specifications; acts as public relations liaison for the Project Services department and Infrastructure Planning and Facilities with customers, and other appropriate parties' prepares technical reports, cost studies, schedules State inspections, and maintains data records for systems.
This position will engage in High Performance, leading edge practices, which are Innovative in their approach to increased Stewardship and Service Excellence.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge normally acquired in the first two or three years of college, technical or vocational school in the mechanical or plumbing trades, or an associates degree in mechanical or engineering technology, or a related area; three to five years of related work experience in Project Management related to Plumbing; knowledge of applicable codes, rules, and regulations (local, state, federal); experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and instructional manuals; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; possession of a valid Michigan vehicle operator's license; must drive a University vehicle to perform job duties of this classification; possession of a State of Michigan Journeyman Plumbing License.
More than five (5) years experience in project management; experience with technical report writing regarding mechanical and plumbing repairs; excellent customer service skills; knowledge plumbing design and operations; possession of a State of Michigan Master's Plumbing License (successful candidate must obtain Master's State Plumbing License within two years of hire date)

NON-STANDARD/VARIABLE WORK HOURS: Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm and may require after-hours, weekend and holiday work.
