Facilities Planning and Management is seeking to hire a Building System Specialist II position. This position is a member of a hands-on team which performs commissioning for existing buildings. The primary focus is on optimizing the performance of existing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The team will improve efficiency and operations of existing HVAC equipment and controls. This position, as a member of the team, will have many opportunities to make significant impacts on thermal comfort, energy use, system performance, and equipment life.
The primary focus of this position is the HVAC control systems. This position will diagnose and fix existing control issues. This position addresses problems that have developed throughout the building's life and gets existing equipment operating at its peak efficiency. This position will add new and better sequences for control systems. In addition, this position will look for ways to be more efficient with the building's existing HVAC control systems. This position will fix what's possible and provide recommendations for capital improvements based upon major findings. This position will also help identify opportunities to bring control systems in line with modern best practices.
This position uses diagnostic tools, methods, and functional testing to effectively troubleshoot and resolve building HVAC system problems and inefficiencies. This position provides data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience; OR a combination of education and related experience totaling 9 years.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Experience with large-scale building automation system hardware and software
Experience with control strategies for institutional or commercial HVAC systems
Experience with building automation system data collection and analysis of trend data
Experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving HVAC problems
