The BAS Controls Technician performs under the direction of the Utilities Manager.
1. Assist programming of field points and troubleshooting for BAS (Building Automation System specifically) for all campus HVAC/BAS related equipment, specifically including Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Allerton, Schneider and Trane. 2. Diagnose, repair and commission the BAS as required. 3. Review HVAC designs and inspect installation on new and existing BAS systems. 4. Identify problems in BAS and implement solutions. 5. Install hardware and software, conduct device testing (end to end), perform program downloading and ensure equipment startup and operation. 6. Assist programming of field points into the building’s BAS controllers ( specifically Honeywell, Johnson, Allerton, Schneider and Trane ). 7. Evaluate programming methods and implement changes to support energy reduction. 8. Maintain and troubleshoot computer workstations, displays and JACE stations as needed.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Graduation from a technical college with an Associate degree in electromechanical technology or instrumentation technology and a four years experience related to the area of assignment experience; or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
1. Associate’s degree in electromechanical technology or instrumentation technology and four years' related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience required. 2. Five years' experience in BAS troubleshooting specifically including Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Allerton, Schneider and Trane. 3. Ability to perform programming and troubleshooting for BAS related equipment such as VAV, Fan Coil, Unit Ventilators, Heat Pumps, Packaged Rooftops, Air Handlers, Chillers, Boilers, Central Plants and other associated equipment. 4. Experience using networks and communication protocols and/or other associated equipment including, but not limited to, Lon, BacNet, Modbus and Phoenix. 5. Tridium Niagara AX technical certification(s) preferred, or the ability to acquire certification(s) within 12 months from the date of hire. 6. Ability to effectively communicate the English language (reading, writing, interpretation and comprehension) required. 7. Effective skills in verbal, written and interpersonal communications. 8. Computer literacy required. 9. Knowledge and skill with Google Chrome, Microsoft Word and Excel, and willingness to learn new programs required. 10. Ability to effectively work/interact with persons from different backgrounds and cultures. 11. Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork. 12.
