Provides maintenance services to Otsego Memorial Hospital, its clinics, the Professional Medical Building and all other facilities used or controlled by Otsego Memorial Hospital including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical repairs, painting and other services relating to maintenance. The plumbing and heating mechanic is also responsible for the assembly, installation or repair of plumbing pipes, fittings, or fixtures; and for heating, water, or drainage systems according to specifications or plumbing codes. Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities: 1. Ability to read, write and interpret documents (such as blueprints, operating/service manuals etc.) and ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals at a level normally achieved through completion of a high school diploma or equivalent. 2. Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems and associated tools and equipment at a level normally acquired through 3-5 years related maintenance experience and/or training. 3. License and/or certification as a plumber and/or heating specialist. 4. Approximately 3 to 6 months on-the-job experience necessary in order to become familiar with Hospital/department policies, procedures and systems as well as attain proficiency in repair and preventive maintenance procedures. 5. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with staff, patients, visitors or others to complete work orders. 6. Analytic ability at a level necessary to solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. 7. Ability to prioritize work and manage time necessary in order to complete job duties in time allotted. 8. Attention to detail and team-orientation necessary in order to meet department standards for maintenance services.
