Facilities Management has an exciting opening for a HVAC professional. The position will be filled at either the HVAC MECHANIC OR the HVAC MECHANIC SENIOR level, depending on the credentials of the finalist selected.
HVAC MECHANICS perform journey level installation, maintenance, servicing, overhauling and repair on a variety of equipment. A high school diploma is required along with at least four years of experience in the HVAC trade. Additionally, to be considered, candidates MUST have the HVAC journeyman license. HVAC MECHANIC SENIORS perform advanced journey-level maintenance and complex tasks on equipment and machinery in a central cooling plant environment. The employee provides and, in some cases, oversees journey-level craftsmanship in the operation, calibration, installation, maintenance, and repairs associated with large tonnage electrical centrifugal chillers. The incumbent performs troubleshooting, preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on cooling plant equipment or auxiliary systems and equipment in accordance with established operational, maintenance, and safety procedures. The HVAC Mechanic Senior trains and mentors other staff on performance of duties.

Required Minimum Level of Experience: Considerable - 4 to 7 years
Required Specific Experience: To Qualify for the HVAC MECHANIC, a minimum of four years of professional experience in the HVAC trade.
To qualify for the HVAC MECHANIC SENIOR POSITION, a minimum of seven years in HVAC maintenance and repair requiring tear-down of large water chiller equipment.
Preferred Minimum Level of Experience: Extensive - 7 years plus
Preferred Specific Experience: Experience or training in building automation programs and field devices preferred.
Required License or Certification: Journeyman or higher HVAC license Required. Valid Driver's license EPA Universal Certification
Preferred License or Certification: Master HVAC License
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1. Working skill in the use of HVAC diagnostic equipment and of employed hand tools with the ability to recommend solutions. 2. Demonstrated ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and schematics; and repair large industrial equipment. 3. Demonstrated skill in the use of tools and equipment associated with utility plant equipment and operation. 4. Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions relevant to the work performed.
Additionally for HVAC MECHANIC SENIOR: 1. Advanced knowledge of the operation, installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment related to district cooling systems. 2. Knowledge of safety and regulatory requirements associated with central cooling plant maintenance and operation.
