The North Carolina A&T State University, Civil, Architectural & Environmental Engineering, Greensboro, invites applications for a full-time, 9-month Assistant Professor position in Architectural Engineering to begin in Fall 2018.
The individual in this position is expected to perform a combination of duties related to teaching, research, and service in one or more of the Architectural Engineering (AE) disciplines related to building design:
1.Heating, Ventilation and Air-conditioning (HVAC) systems; 2.Electrical and Lighting systems; 3.Construction Management and Structural Systems; 4.Building Energy Systems; 5. Heat Transfer; or related areas.
This position further strengthens Architectural Engineering (AE), a field that provides students with breadth and depth in the engineering sciences that advance the field and integrate architectural engineering disciplines with existing civil engineering and construction engineering programs.
The primary responsibilities for this position include teaching undergraduate level courses, conducting and supporting cutting edge research, student advising, mentoring and recruitment; curriculum development; conducting scholarly activities and all other activities required for tenure and a successful academic career. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, fully engaging in accreditation processes, program assessment and service to the department, College and University as needed.

Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering provides academic preparation for students studying for BS degrees in Architectural Engineering, BS degrees in Civil Engineering, and MS degrees in Civil Engineering with specializations in Structures, Energy, Environmental, Transportation, Construction, Building Systems, and other Civil or Architectural Engineering areas.

Candidate must have earned a PhD with an emphasis in an Architectural Engineering (AE), Building Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline appropriate for an AE faculty member in the building mechanical and energy systems area by the date of the anticipated appointment.
A strong background in architectural engineering, in particular HVAC, plumbing, or codes related to buildings,
Excellent oral and written communication skills,
Demonstrate the potential to develop an externally funded independent research program, to publish peer-reviewed scholarly papers in the academic discipline,
Be able to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in architectural engineering and civil engineering;
A strong background in computer applications and involvement with preparation of construction documents for building projects,
Experience in building engineering,
Experience in collaborating with researchers across disciplines that are represented in the Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering,
Demonstrated ability to integrate project work across multiple area of building design and construction
Experience in teaching/ research/ professional work in the area of architectural engineering or related architectural engineering discipline
