RIT Catering is currently looking to hire an Event Supervisor for our growing catering team. This person will be responsible for the supervision of all catering services both on and off campus, This candidate needs to display a good working knowledge of available resources and the ability to communicate well with others verbally and in written form
Detailed Job Description
Responsible to all customers and co-workers to provide excellent service in a friendly, sincere and courteous manner. Must maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
Communicate effectively with staff, student employees, management team members and the general public
Perform monthly inventory of the following catering locations: storerooms, beverage coolers, club lounge, CIMS kitchen, University Gallery kitchen, alcohol storeroom and cooler.
Maintain a good working knowledge of all catering software including but not limited to Catertrax, Food Service Suite, Humanity and Event Management System.
Assist with the oversight of Laundry. Ensure that standards are being met, staff is trained, equipment is operational and proper chemicals are being ordered.
Insure that all foods are served and stored at proper temperatures and times while on events. Follow all New York State and Monroe County health codes as they relate to health, sanitation and safety. Serve as a good example for proper sanitation, cleaning and personal hygiene.
Collaborate with other campus service departments (Facilities Management, Tech Crew, Production Services, etc.) to ensure that clients’ needs are met
Supervise catered events; oversee event staff, drive box truck to transport food and equipment
Hire and supervise student service staff related to all RIT Catering events.
Maintain and execute an up to date training program for all catering student staff on a yearly basis.
Maintain a flexible schedule for early morning, late evening and weekend coverage of events coordinated through our office
Work on other projects as assigned by Events Manager
Possess a good working knowledge of all working positions in Catering. Give clear and concise directions
Enforce all RIT, New York State and Monroe County health codes and alcohol policies as they relate to health, sanitation and safety
Attend staff and other necessary meetings to provide good communication among all employees involved in Catering.
Possess an awareness and basic knowledge of allergens, food sensitivities and dietetic restrictions. Show a willingness to work with the customer and management in resolving potential diet limitations of the customer
Assist in checking all fixtures, equipment and conditions (lights, HVAC, refrigeration, etc.) for proper operations, settings and maintenance. Report deficiencies immediately
Carry out special assignments as requested
Report to work on time, adhere to break policy, wear proper uniform and hair restraint.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Serve save certification, allergen training and alcohol training within the first 6 months.
3 years experience in high volume catering and/or restaurant operations and customer service
Required Minimum Education Level
Associates or Equivalent Experience
