Posting Summary: Facilities Management (FM) supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic and patient care programs. With over 1,200 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair and maintenance of U.Va.'s buildings, infrastructure and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties.
The HVAC Supervisor supervises the Building Optimization team (BOT), which is tasked with optimizing HVAC equipment through renewal and replacement of HVAC components and controls. The incumbent provides and performs technical and diagnostic guidance to a work group in order to resolve problems concerning the operation, maintenance, repair or installation of HVAC, controls, and auxiliary equipment.
Required Minimum Level of Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
Required Specific Degree/Training: High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
Preferred Minimum Level of Education: Not a Requirement
Required Minimum Level of Experience: Considerable - 4 to 7 years
Required Specific Experience: A minimum of four years of experience at a journey level in HVAC with at least two years supervisory or leadership experience.
Preferred Minimum Level of Experience: Extensive - 7 years plus
Preferred Specific Experience: Demonstrated experience with building automation/control systems, including installation and operation is highly preferred.
Required License or Certification: Journeyman HVAC License Valid Driver's license, with the ability to obtain a Virginia Driver's license within 30 days.
Preferred License or Certification: Master HVAC License
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1. Extensive knowledge of the principles and methods associated with HVAC installation, operations and the maintenance of equipment, controls, auxiliary equipment and systems. 2. Extensive skill in the operation and use of test and diagnostic equipment as well as hand and power tools. 3. Considerable knowledge of the techniques required to successfully replace/install building automation system components. 4. Demonstrated ability to supervise, plan and schedule the work of others; to interpret drawings, blueprints, specifications and work orders; to maintain records; and to make estimates of labor and materials.
