Plant Maintenance Engineer (Classified AFSCME)
The incumbent of this position is responsible for performing preventive maintenance and repairs on all heating systems and mechanical equipment in the buildings at Bemidji State University (BSU), including the Heating Plant. The incumbent in the positon is also responsible for performing the duties of the Heating Plant relating to operating high and low pressure steam boilers. Physical assessment and background check are required for this position.
Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices involved in the operation and maintenance of high-pressure boilers, heating, plumbing, ventilating, and electrical systems.
Considerable knowledge of the safety and accident prevention measures and practices
Skill in the use of tools and the trade
Ability to maintain, adjust, and repair such mechanical systems and auxiliary appliances
Possession of a valid First Class, Grade B Engineer's License
Working knowledge of: blueprint reading; basic welding, both electric and gas; and machine shop practices in order to solve problems to make repairs on obsolete equipment where replacement parts are no longer available
Possession of a valid First Class D Driver's License
The applicant should demonstrate a knowledge of and interest in diverse cultures and populations.

Occasional: Climbing, crawling, crouching, fine manipulating, lifting above shoulder and above waist, to chest, reclining, repetitive arm and foot motion, sitting, squatting, stooping, twisting/pivoting, color vision
