DUTIES: This position will report to the VP of Facilities Management. The Senior Project Mechanical Engineer will engage with the existing mechanical, electrical and plumbing infrastructure including coordination with MEP Consultants during design of proposed new and alteration projects. SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE: Understands HVAC, plumbing, medical gas, electrical drawings and general construction. Supervision of mechanical, electrical and plumbing consultants in conceptual planning, design documentation and specification, cost estimating, managing contractors for Hospital and Academic mechanical, electrical and plumbing renovation projects. Provides verbal and written instruction, interpretation and reviews comments of design documents for any project including programs, conceptual drawing, preliminary and final design drawings and specification. Insures that applicable codes, including SUCF Program Directives, SUNY Sustainability requirements and NYS Executive Order Directives are followed in design documents for Hospital and Academic projects. Meets with Campus Administrators to develop program, budgets, funding codes, project activities, project schedules, in full coordination of Hospital and Academic daily activities. Works closely with Physical Plant in establishing Design Standards. Supports Physical Plant on technical assessments and troubleshooting issues. Develops Risk Assessment Reports prior to project construction. Performs inspection during projects, attends meetings and prepares periodic progress reports. Prepares concept sketches, cost estimates and implementation schedules for all Capital and Campus Electrical projects. (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION) QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION AND/ OR EXPERIENCE: BA in Mechanical Engineering with in-depth construction management experience. Engineering knowledge in various building components along with field experience in order to discharge the duty effectively. Knowledge of all phases of construction management, including programming design, bid construction, commissioning and close-out, preferably in a hospital and higher education environment. Strong administrative leadership skills. Full knowledge of applicable governing building codes is desirable. Additional Info: * Represents Location Pay for full-time appointees.
