Facility Maintenance Technicians at this level are fully functioning specialists in a particular mechanical trade area (plumbing). In addition to advanced level tasks, this position is expected to be able to perform all Journey-level work in the assigned trade. Essential duties include but are not limited to: ensuring domestic water in all residence halls is functioning properly, replacing and repairing domestic water boilers, monitor water supply temperatures and assist in the creation and implementation of preventative maintenance plans. This position also responds to daily work orders in all residence halls. Diagnose problems efficiently and effectively providing time and cost projections.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Graduation from high school or equivalent and four years experience. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
At least five years experience in plumbing. Five years residential or commercial plumbing experience highly preferred. Experience in DHW Boilers and mixing valves that regulate water temperatures throughout a large residential building would be a plus. Good communication and customer service skills for working with a diverse population of students, staff, and guest of the University.
