Posting Summary: Facilities Management has an exciting opening for an HVAC Professional. This posting will fill either an HVAC Mechanic or HVAC Senior Mechanic position.
HVAC Mechanics perform journey level installation, skilled repair, and maintenance on heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Other duties include preventative maintenance; servicing, overhauling, and maintaining a variety of window and small package units or large central units; and determining equipment needs. HVAC Mechanics receive job assignments from a supervisor however most work is performed with little supervision. The incumbent is also responsible for providing technical guidance for HVAC Assistants. The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of four years' experience in HVAC. A journeymen or master HVAC license is required.
The HVAC Senior Mechanic performs skilled repairs, maintenance, and installation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems and works to establish schedules for preventive maintenance. The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of four years' experience at a journeyman level. A journeymen or master HVAC license is required.

Required Minimum Level of Experience: Considerable - 4 to 7 years
Required Specific Experience: HVAC Mechanic level: A minimum of four years of professional experience in the HVAC trade
HVAC Senior Mechanic level: A minimum of four years of professional experience at a journeymen level (8 years total experience in HVAC trade)
Preferred Minimum Level of Experience: Extensive - 7 years plus
Required License or Certification: Minimum of Journey level HVAC License
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: HVAC Mechanic: 1. Ability to communicate effectively. 2. Demonstrated ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. 3. Ability to read and understand schematics. 4. Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures. 5. Working knowledge of the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC equipment. 6. Knowledge and skill in hand tools and diagnostic equipment employed in maintenance and repair of HVAC equipment 7. Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC refrigeration equipment.
HVAC Senior Mechanic: 1. Considerable knowledge of all aspects of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration system operations, repair, maintenance, and installation. 2. Considerable skill in the use of HVAC diagnostic equipment and handing of tools. 3. Demonstrated ability to install, repair, and maintain HVAC systems. Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair problems. Assign, inspect and assist the work of others. 4. Reading, writing, and verbal communication skills. 5. Ability to use computers and associated applications for time tracking and documentation of work. 6. Ability to work overtime which could include nights and weekends and ability to respond on an emergency basis as needed.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of HVAC digital control systems or building automation systems is preferred for both levels.
