The Planning, Design, Construction & Scheduling unit of the Division of Facilities and Services at West Virginia University is seeking applications for a Electrical Trades Specialist I position. Under the direction/guidance of the Electrician Lead, the Trades Specialist will perform electrical journeyman-level work for construction, renovation and alteration projects in WVU facilities.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Perform electrical duties for the purpose of completing complex construction/renovation/alteration projects (large scale demolition, classroom renovations, conversion of existing facilities to research laboratories, etc.)
Perform demolition as required.
Lay out work to assure conformance with available drawings, specifications, applicable building codes, National Electric Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Code (NFPA) and WVU standards and specifications.
Assist other trades in construction/renovation related activities, including plumbing installation, painting, floor and ceiling tile, and concrete and concrete finishing..
Operate, maintain and repair hand or power tools and equipment of the carpentry trade by cleaning, oiling, setting, welding or other processes.
Erect and disassemble various types of fixed and rolling scaffolding, stairways and ladder systems required to complete the work.
Provide technical assistance to lower level personnel.
Use a computer to document time on the job, materials used, conditions or problems as needed.
Drive to job sites throughout campus.

Pay Grade: 13; WVU provides competitive wages for its employees, and takes experience and related education into consideration when determining appropriate salary.
High school diploma, plus 18 months of technical or vocational training or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field
At least two (2) years of experience in commercial or academic construction and alteration work
Valid driver's license
The following certifications must be completed within six (6) months of employment:
10-hour and 30-hour OSHA certificate, meet OSHA
