FACILITIES MANAGER

EVERGREEN COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL

Evergreen Country Day School (www.evergreencountryday.org) is a learning community characterized by curiosity and kindness. The campus is located in scenic Evergreen, Colorado, only 25 miles west of downtown Denver, with 225 students, toddler eighth grade. The mission of the school is to inspire and equip students to THRIVE and to create a better world, underscored by the school's supporting pillars of academics, character, community, safety, and individuality. Small class sizes allow for teachers to challenge students while providing individualized instruction within our THRIVE educational philosophy.  

REPORTS TO: Director of Finance & Operations

WORK HOURS AND EXPECTATIONS: Exempt administrative position; involves working outside of school hours as needed.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Five plus years in construction/facilities management.
  • Thorough working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
  • Knowledgeable in carpentry and painting.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical/electrical issues.
  • Knowledge of state and local construction codes, Safety/Fire/Health statues and codes.
  • Ability to adapt behavior to function effectively in the institution’s culture, including those specific to the Evergreen Country Day School tradition.
  • Commitment to the institution’s needs and readiness to respond 24/7/365 as reasonable and necessary.

Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:

  • Understanding how to plan and manage projects and perform on-site inspections of new construction, alterations and repairs.
  • Understanding and record of adhering to best safety practices including OSHA, AHERA, life safety codes.
  • Understanding of the handling of hazardous materials.
  • Understanding of the process of acquisition, use and maintenance of equipment used in the building trades.

ADA Requirements:

  • Significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting the Director of Finance and Operations, the Facilities Manager has overall responsibility for the for planning, organizing, maintaining, and repairs of buildings and grounds. The mission of Facilities Management at Evergreen Country Day School is to create and support a well-maintained campus infrastructure and to provide the highest quality service in a responsive and efficient manner to all our community members. The Facilities Manager is expected to:

  • Daily facilities maintenance of buildings and grounds; maintaining the physical appearance of the facilities.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning tasks.
  • Provide on-site supervision for contractual and other maintenance staff.
  • Implements preventive maintenance schedules/procedures and maintaining clear records.
  • Maintains an inventory control system for maintenance, replacement parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Produce and adhere to annual facilities budget.
  • Act as liaison with inspectors for annual health and fire inspection.
  • Conducting and keeping clear record of all fire and safety drills.
  • Maintain efficiency of heating/air systems.
  • Special event set up and take down.
  • Ability to obtain a CDL and operate a 24 passenger school bus.
  • Partners with local police, fire and town officials on campus projects and permitting, emergency planning, emergency response.
  • Additional duties as assigned. Duties may be revised based upon operational needs of the school.
  • Participate in school meetings as well as school-sponsored events.
  • Be actively involved in the school community at large.
  • Serve on school’s leadership team along with other school leaders.
