Maintain the school building in good working order, clean and safe from hazards.
Qualifications: High School graduate with at least three years of experience in building maintenance with basic knowledge of repairs & maintenance and cleaning methods & products. Experienced with hand tools, power tools, floor buffer/stripper/waxer, carpet cleaner/extractor, chemicals and solutions.
Must be reliable, responsible and a self-starter. Must show initiative and be able to work with minimal supervision. Must have good communication skills and be able to work with people of different backgrounds.
Certificates, licenses, registrations: A valid Virginia driver’s license and current certifications in CPR and First aid.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Trouble shoots minor maintenance problems and corrects them.
Performs routine plumbing repairs (e.g. unstopping toilets, sinks & urinals, fixing water leaks, leaky faucets and water fountains).
Sets up tables and chairs for student lunches, assemblies, meetings & events.
Repairs door knobs & locks, cabinets & shelves, etc.
Cleans the building and performs repairs and maintenance to keep the school and grounds clean, orderly and safe from hazards.
Replaces air filters according to adopted schedule and ensures proper working air handlers.
Vacuums, sweeps, mops, cleans or polishes railings, door handles, walls, windows and building fixtures.
Cleans walkways, steps & parking lot and polices playing field and playgrounds.
Removes snow from walkways & steps to maintain safe environment.
Washes windows, dusts furniture, blinds, and other equipment.
Strips and waxes floors
Empties trash and restocks bathrooms.
Orders supplies & materials on an ongoing basis to maintain sufficient stock at all times (e.g. paper products, light bulbs, air filters, vacuum bags, cleaning solutions, etc.).
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supports the school and its leadership.
