The Rockefeller University seeks a Mechanic I to join Plant Operations. Under the direction of the HVAC manager and/or HVAC foreman, the Mechanic I will perform tasks related to the operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems. Particular emphasis on troubleshooting systems and components including but not limited to: Air Handlers, motors, pumps, controls, control valves, dampers, actuators (pneumatic and electric), sensors, and end use devices. Will perform general preventive maintenance including filters, belts, bearings, strainers, and traps is ongoing. Minor piping work is required including chilled water, steam, traps, and condensate.
High School Diploma or equivalent required. 5 to 10 years of experience in the HVAC field with progressing skill and/or responsibility necessary. Experience in alignment of rotating equipment and repair/replacement of associated components such as shafts, seals, bearings, and couplings a plus. Must be a motivated worker, self-starter, and able to work independently when needed.
