At our offices in Charleston, TN, we are currently looking for a Civil, Structural, Architectural Project Engineer.
The CSA Project Engineer will provide corporate project engineering and project management services related to projects at all WACKER sites within the North American region throughout all project phases from front-end-loading engineering through detail engineering, construction, commissioning and turn-over to operations in accordance with federal, state and local regulations as well as Wacker’s internal policies and procedures. The CSA Project Engineer will be required to work in a multi-discipline team with multiple interfaces to internal customers, internal services such as procurement and regulatory affairs, as well as external suppliers and contractors. Domestic and international travel over an extended period of time dependent on project assignment will be required.
Compile and provide reports related to area of responsibility
Target and priority setting in the project and construction execution
Coordination, control, information of / about: Work processes and interfaces, Specialist departments, contractors, Resources (personnel, equipment, internal legwork)
Steering, assessing, controlling: Of technical results, Compliance with legal and internal guidelines and regulations, The implementation of IMS (Integrated Management System)
Processing and implementation of legal, economic, safety and environmental related matters
Development of project scope and execution approach
Civil / Structural / Architectural design and engineering which may also include building HVAC, fire-protection /alarm
Permitting for authority having jurisdiction (AHJ)
The overall engineering and project management: Process - / system planning, design, specification, calculation, Cost estimates, expenditure planning, Project appropriation request, Scheduling, Safety, quality and regulatory reviews, Subcontracting, procurement, Construction management, Commissioning support, plant handover, performance test, Acceptance, rejection handling, Coordinate 3rd party contractors and suppliers involved in the project, Monitor project progress and compile project reports
Coordination interfaces to other engineering disciplines involved in the project
Manage changes in scope and/or priorities during project execution
Applying best practices related to project management, engineering and construction
Utilize value engineering practices
Compile and provide project as-built documentation
Drive and support continuous improvement related to safety, quality and cost
Represent Wacker’s interests towards authorities, suppliers and contractors
Cooperate with groups and individuals within the Engineering & Maintenance department, Operations and other service units with focus on achieving optimal results/solutions from a corporate/enterprise perspective
Perform all tasks and assignments in accordance to Wacker’s policies and procedures
Other tasks and duties as assigned to support the engineering and maintenance organization.
Bachelor's Degree required in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management
3+ years of professional experience in CSA engineering and construction management is required
Project management experience
Thorough understanding of engineering principles, relevant codes, and construction practices to effectively manage projects and to apply efficient and innovative solutions to technical and organizational challenges
Thorough knowledge and understanding of construction procedures, construction technologies, safe work practices, construction/installation quality and dependencies of various trades and disciplines working on a project in order to efficiently coordinate contractors to achieve project goals and maintain a safe job site
Able to perform and succeed in an environment of schedule and cost pressure
Capable of professionally dealing with changing priorities and scope requirements
Strong construction / installation related skills
Strong construction-site organization skills
Strong written/verbal communication skills
Strong knowledge of construction and project management principals
Strong leadership skills
