Posting Summary: Facilities Management (FM) supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic and patient care programs. With over 1,200 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair and maintenance of U.Va.'s buildings, infrastructure and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Plumber who supports Facilities Management's goal of providing consistent, cost effective, and reliable maintenance and service to the University facilities. The incumbent maintains all systems in operational condition and provides a safe and comfortable environment for all plumbing systems at the University. Duties include preventative and predictive maintenance as well as minor repairs on variety of plumbing equipment.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum of four years of experience working with all aspects of the plumbing operations trade including troubleshooting plumbing and other mechanical problems, as well as a valid Journeyman Plumbing license. A valid Driver's license with a positive points balance is also required. Demonstrated ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, blueprints and schematic drawings; and to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair water systems is essential. Demonstrated written, verbal and interpersonal skills is also very important. Experience in welding and working with steamfitting/steam systems is strongly preferred. A Backflow Prevention Device Certification is also highly preferred.
