1.Perform broad and functionally diverse facility maintenance assignments including precise cutting of drywall for door installations, framing of openings, spackling, finishing and painting of interior spaces. 2.Serve as a technical contributor within the work unit in one or more areas of the Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical or HVAC fields. 3.Diagnose structural problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary. 4.Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and testing devices.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
1.High school diploma or GED Equivalency. 2.Two years' of professional building experience. 3.Licensing or certification highly desirable, but not essential. 4. Knowledge of fire, building, electrical and mechanical codes to maintain compliance with State, Federal and University regulations and standards preferred. 5.Ability to follow applicable building codes required. 6.Ability to effectively communicate the English language (reading, writing, interpretation and comprehension) required. 7.Effective skills in verbal, written and interpersonal communications. 8.Computer literate. Knowledge and skill with Google Applications, Microsoft Word and Excel, and willingness to learn new programs. 9.Ability to effectively work/interact with persons from different backgrounds and cultures. 10.Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork. 11.Valid driver's license required. The FM Tech Mechanical Trades operates assigned vehicles on and/or off campus and is required to possess, maintain, or obtain a valid driver's license upon appointment to the position. 12. Selected candidate must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
