The employee will be a member of Washington Federation of State Employees Higher Education (WFSE-HE).
The Heating, Ventilation, & Air Conditioning (HVAC) Tech installs, maintains, and repairs heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment used in refrigeration plants and air conditioning, ventilation, and water cooling systems. Under the general direction of the Distribution and Maintenance Manager, the employee occupying this position will utilize standard practices, methods, materials, and tools to assist in a safe space learning environment for faculty, staff and students.
Essential Functions/Typical Duties
Repair: HVAC equipment used in refrigeration plants and air conditioning ventilation, and water cooling systems. Including install and maintain. This includes building a preventive maintenance schedule for all HVAC equipment and systems.
Overhaul equipment: electrical circuits, temperature and pressure controls, and other equipment using wrenches, testers, soldering and welding equipment. This includes preventive maintenance schedule of all related equipment.
Diagnose: inspect, troubleshoot, and overhaul electrical control circuits, temperature and pressure controls, and all related HVAC components using manuals, blueprints, and equipment knowledge.
Testing: test coils, valves, and connections to determine that systems are leak proof and properly adjusted. Operate and maintain cooling towers, including water treatment systems. Make measurements, and adjust all types of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems for most efficient performance.
Related duties: may lead or instruct helpers as required. May perform work in other trades.
Two yearsHVAC Mechanic work experience with journeyman standing.
Vocational training may be substituted for work experience on a year-to-year basis
Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license may be required
