Towson University is accepting applications for a Project Manager in Facilities Management. This position will manage the design and construction of facilities improvement and renovation projects. Provide construction administration and construction monitoring to ensure that project requirements are being met. Develop and evaluate scope of work and develop budget estimates for requested renovation and new construction projects.
The Project Manager will manage the implementation of campus construction and space alteration projects. Meet with Design Consultants to develop detailed specifications and scope for construction projects. Provide detailed cost estimates for proposed projects. Provide working drawings for smaller projects as required. Direct design consultants to develop working construction documents for distribution to contractors. Manage and coordinate Construction Managers, General Contractors and In House trades staff as required for overall project management responsibilities. Develop construction schedules in coordination with academic schedules required by the university. Oversee daily development of assigned projects including on site management responsibilities. Manage project accounting and project updates with Project Summary forms. Provide all communication and coordination relative to project development and completion to end users throughout the duration of the assigned projects. Perform field investigations to determine site conditions relative to proposed projects. Manage multiple projects at once. Provide support to O&M group as required for maintenance related work including archive research and existing conditions evaluations. May act as supplemental project manager to non-delegated UMB projects as required. Coordinate with Planning and end user groups to provide scope development and budget estimates as requested for proposed construction projects. Provide sketches/drawings as required for scope development. Advise on schedule and budget constraints. Develop written specifications as needed for in house project development. Participate in the selection and renewal process for in house and UMB on-call IDC construction trade contracts. Provide consultation to Facilities Management on specialized project practices such as roof replacement and utility upgrade projects.
Bachelor's degree and five or more years’ of construction project management experience. Working knowledge of general construction and industry accepted knowledge. Basic knowledge of Life/Safety, Hazmat, and fire regulations, word processing, blueprint reading and electrical, plumbing and HVAC practices. On site project management, ability to handle multiple tasks and conflicting priorities, provide supervision and coordinate the work of others. Experience in technical writing and writing specifications preferred.
