Posting Summary: Facilities Management (FM) supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic and patient care programs. With over 1,200 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair and maintenance of U.Va.'s buildings, infrastructure and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties.
We have an exciting opportunity for multiple Plumber Steamfitter Seniors who support Facilities Management's goal of providing consistent, cost effective, efficient, and reliable maintenance and service to the University facilities and the Health System. The incumbent performs a wide variety of skilled repair, installation and maintenance tasks which can include plumbing fixtures, and related equipment while leading other skilled and semi-skilled workers. Plumber Steamfitter Seniors also have lead responsibilities, including guidance and instruction on techniques, methods, and procedures for accomplishing assigned tasks and solving problems.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, as well as a minimum of four years of plumbing experience at a journey level with considerable knowledge of all aspects of plumbing operations and the use of plumbing tools. A Journeyman or higher Plumbing license and a valid driver's license, with a positive points balance are also required. Demonstrated ability diagnose, troubleshoot and repair water and steam systems, as well as the ability to read and work from blueprints is essential. Demonstrated ability to lead a group of workers, as well as verbal, written and interpersonal skills is required. The incumbent must be able to work overtime which could include nights and weekends and the ability to respond on an emergency basis as needed.
