For the Office of Facilities, Department of Plant Operations, monitors and coordinates the activities of physical plant staff in various specialized trade functions (such as mechanical, electrical, plumbing and carpentry). Analyzes project requests, determines work methods and procedures, tools, equipment and materials to be used. Determines staffing requirements for projects requiring specialized repair and/or maintenance procedures and follows up with reporting tools on productivity. Supervises the implementation of safety standards and practices.
This position may rotate on three campuses depending on project needs.

Work Week: Standard (M-F equal number of hours per day)
Required Skill/ability 1: Strong knowledge base in the standard practices and methods in one or more of the following trades: carpentry, electrical, plumbing, mechanical (HVAC), sheet metal, roofing or painting.
Required Skill/ability 2: Supervisory experience with responsibility for trades in the field. Thorough knowledge of supervisory principles, practices, and techniques including experience with progressive discipline and performance feedback.
Required Skill/ability 3: Proven knowledge of facility management techniques, design and construction of buildings and safety codes. Experience in planning and scheduling of construction, renovation, maintenance and repair work.
Required Skill/ability 4: Proven ability to maintain, manage and prepare scheduling, word processing, and spreadsheet documents and reports. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for the ability to effectively relate to all parties.
Required Skill/ability 5: Ability to manage multiple maintenance practices and deadlines while building a team environment and addressing the needs of customers.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills: Experience in an academic institutional, research or medical facilities setting. Experience using maintenance management systems. Experience with a unionized work force.
Required Licenses Or Certifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field. Five years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
