The role of this position is to provide a safe, functional, clean, efficient and attractive living and learning environment. The Plumber is skilled, licensed trade person responsible for evaluating, repairing, and replacing a variety of plumbing facility components, to ensure equipment is fully operational and meets university standards. This position will be involved in corrective and preventive maintenance and minor alteration work and may oversee temporary labor and/or other trades persons or contractors as required and provides technical oversight for all plumbing work. This position requires general supervision and often works independently.
Minimum Education: - Master’s License (unrestricted) - GED/High School Diploma - Journeyman Plumber License - Back Flow Certification
Preferred Education: - Associates Degree in Construction Management or Business Management - Certified HVAC Technician - Completion of Formal Apprenticeship Program
5-10 years of experience as a licensed plumber
2-5 years of experience with commercial, residential and/or process piping
4-5 years working journey level experience
Knowledge and experience with applicable building codes
4-5 years supervising plumbers
Ability to communicate on a variety of levels
Basic computer skills/email usage
Basic plumbing troubleshooting skills
Ability to read and use blueprints
Ability to use tools/testing devices
Use and knowledge of plumbing codes
Must be able to maintain a valid driver’s license with fewer than 2 points
Budget management experience
5 years as a licensed master plumber
2 years service truck experience
1-2 years HVAC service
University maintenance experience
Microsoft Office skills
Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding and at heights of 40 feet or more, and lift 50 lbs
