DUTIES: Reporting to the Associate Director for Computing Services the Sr. Programmer Analyst is charged with managing all aspects of support for mission critical server administration for the data center and field server environments on behalf of our customers. This position will require one to administer, maintain, develop and implement policies and procedures for ensuring the integrity of SUNY DMC server and storage systems. Supervises the implementation system projects, maintenance, and resolves performance issues, capacity issues, replication and other distributed data issues. Reliance will be on increasing knowledge on the most current technologies and best practices, experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals.This individual will apply proven communication and problem-solving skills to guide and assist user groups on issues related to the design, development, and deployment of software and hardware systems. Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Ensure that core services are maintained through proper installation, configuration and optimization of supported Windows hardware and server software. Install and maintain centralized Citrix application presentation systems. Evaluate and install patches. Perform system backup and recovery, monitor system configuration to ensure data integrity. Serves as a both a lead and participant in project teams for developing or upgrading systems maintained by Systems Operations including Infrastructure, architecture & technical expertise that provide key services to customers. Provides input into ongoing and new projects: gathers, organizes and performs analysis of infoRTlation about benefits, advantages/disadvantages, and technical feasibility of implementing changes. Coordinates efforts and resources required for the diagnosis and correction of problems in complex, multi tiered distributed systems and makes recommendations for standardization of application and middleware server configurations to improve efficiency, security and availability of the systems. Provides oversight and input for new IT solutions and services and facilitates the planning of implementing changes to the environment. Provides accessibility, availability and reliability of applications or services on a 24 x 7 x 365. Oversees implementation and maintenance of enterprise-wide systems, tools and ensures scalability.
Accountable for Data Center facilities management of environment (power, fire suppression, HVAC, UPS etc.). Develops/reviews operating policies to mitigate risk. Familiar with a variety of the current IT System Operations concepts, best practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Assist the Director in setting systems consolidation strategy, developing storage access networks and auto failover capabilities. (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION) QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree preferred. 5+ years managing Windows 2000, 2003, 2008, 2012 in a large-scale, 24x7 environment Experience with Citrix Xenapp. Experience with IBM Power Servers and AIX and/or Linux Operating systems. Experience with Fiber Chanel Storage networking and SAN Storage Systems (IBM, EMC). Understanding of Active Directory Services, Microsoft Clustering, SQL Mirroring. Experience with VMware vSphere. This position will require on-call support to the operational aspects of supporting data center servers. Experience in an academic medical center is required. Excellent interpersonal, written, and/or communication, analytical, team building management, and organizational skills with creative approaches to information systems issues and problems, and a demonstrated record of bringing together diverse functions and build effective teams involving all categories of health care employees is a plus.
