The Design & Document Specialist & BIM Integrator position produces design documents for architectural, mechanical, electrical, structural, plumbing, and other building features for existing buildings using project records, collected data, and as-builts. The person in this position will visit project sites to determine client needs and gather measurements, as-builts, and other field data, or will receive assignments with field data and design concepts already outlined.
This position assists the project teams with records management in association with the Architectural Engineering and Construction Archivist. This position updates floorplan models upon project completion in coordination with the Campus Planning Office.
The position will also involve integrating and developing Building Information Modeling architecture into the existing records management processes. The position will assist Facilities and Property management with data collection and documentation from new construction and existing systems.
This position reviews reference materials, manuals, building codes, and vendor specifications. This position also analyzes data and reviews engineering/architectural solutions and alternatives with a supervisor.
The person in this position will create and preserve drawings and records utilizing CAD software document files and facilities management software. The position gathers information and makes updates to the PSU Technical Design Standards.
This position requires a strong understanding of architectural, engineering, and construction processes and workflows. The person in this position will maintain strong working relationships with project teams that include faculty, staff and students, consultants, and contractors.
Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or Engineering with specific course work in CADD (Computer Aided Design and Drafting) and 3D design systems.
Two years experience in the design and construction industry working on complex projects.
Two years experience using CADD as a primary responsibility.
Experience using CADD during design, preconstruction, construction, and closeout phases of projects.
Must have effective written and oral communication skills, the ability to work with a varied peer and client group, strong customer service skills, strong problem solving and respect for confidentiality.
Possession of a valid State-issued driver’s license.
Successful completion of a background check.
Computer skills include working knowledge & experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Bluebeam, and/or Adobe Creative Suite.
Demonstrated proficiency with the creation and management of databases using SQL, GIS or MS-Access.
Experience creating BIM documents.
Experience with preparation of construction records for archiving and project closeout.
Mechanical and electrical drafting experience.
Experience creating As-Builts from field verifying conditions.
Familiarity with record retention requirements from the Oregon Administrative Rules.
