Florida Hospital Orlando houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and largest cardiac catheterization labs in the country. Department Profile The Orlando campus, Engineering Department is charged with providing a safe, comfortable and pleasant healing environment for all our patients, guests and staff. This is achieved by providing the services of building maintenance and operations, small construction projects, and preventative maintenance on equipment from large chillers and boilers to hospital beds and patient rooms. The Engineering Department is a diverse group of individuals that reflect the demographics of our community. We are comprised of skilled tradespersons; licensed Plumbers and HVAC Technicians, Master Electricians, Boiler Operators, Area Maintenance professionals. Our department of 66 staff members all work together to support over 3.5 million square feet of building space on the Orlando campus. Work Hours/Shifts Full Time Sunday 12:00pm-8:30pm Monday -Thursday 3pm-11:30pm Job Summary Responsible for the preventive maintenance, repair, replacement and installation of plumbing fixtures and equipment. Maintains boilers, pumps, water softeners and kitchen equipment. Installs and repairs copper, PVC, poly pipes, cast iron and steel piping. Responsible for knowledge of and compliance with all current codes and requirements. Actively participate in outstanding customer service and accept responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Knowledge Skills, Education & Experience Required Working knowledge of plumbing systems including the following: Domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, fire sprinkler, medical gasses, storm drains, natural gas, and HVAC piping. Must understand plumbing system design and installation. Must be able to flare tubing, soft solder, silver solder, solvent weld, and thread pipe. Must have worked as a journeyman under a license plumber for a period of 5 years or have held a master plumber competency card during past employment. Extensive knowledge of Plumbing within the Healthcare field. (Preferred) High School Diploma or GED (Preferred) Minimum 2 years Healthcare Plumbing Experience (Preferred) Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required None Job Responsibilities Demonstrates Florida Hospital core values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship, and Teamwork. Installs and maintains plumbing systems in accordance with local and state codes. Installs, maintains and repairs toilets, lavatories, scrub sinks, manual and automatic faucets and flush valves. Thorough knowledge of hot water systems including the operation of boilers, heat exchangers, steam regulators and pressure regulators. Trouble shoots equipment's operation, determines cause and makes necessary repairs. Installs according to blue prints: heat exchanger, water softners, ice makers and piping for a variety of equipment and systems such as fan coil units. Repairs and maintains fire sprinkler systems. Maintain, repair and replace pumps as required to prevent equipment failure. Performs routine area maintenance and other tasks unrelated to plumbing trade as needed. Performs other duties as assigned, to include adjusting one's schedule of work if necessary for the continued safety or convenience of our guests and/or staff.
