Advertised Summary Job Description: The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) is seeking a highly skilled individual to support the school's capital projects as the Project Engineer. Reporting to the SEAS Director of Facilities and Space Planning, the Project Engineer supports the school's capital projects including: wet/dry research and teaching laboratories, office space, classrooms and students spaces. Specifically, the selected candidate will work with a complex team of professional consultants, CU facilities team members, and SEAS client groups The selected individual, while supporting the Director of Facilities and Space Planning, will be required to work collaboratively with CU Capital Project Managers, CU Facilities Operations, Engineering, Public Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Telephone/Data and to coordinate the often many stakeholders in any given project. He/she will work closely with the Director of Facilities performing design and construction review, renovations, relocations, furniture selection & installation, and move-ins. The Capital Projects Engineer must have demonstrated experience with handling multi-projects simultaneously, effective communication and problem solving. Experience with building systems including HVAC or other infrastructure. A candidate with the ability to perform light drafting and floor plan layout for interior renovation projects would be desirable. The candidate may also have other duties as assigned.
General Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experienced required, with a preference for degrees in architecture, engineering, or a related discipline.
A minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in one (or more) of the following areas is required: institutional project management; management of physical plant operations and maintenance; or higher education planning/design. Knowledge of the practices, methods, and equipment utilized in all phases of facilities support, including familiarity with HVAC, mechanical, electrical, monitoring, and control systems preferred.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Must have excellent communication and customer service skills to work effectively in a strong service environment that is subject to changing priorities. Strong organizational skills are a must.
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
Position typically involves moderate physical activity.
