UW Medicine Consolidated Laundry has an outstanding opportunity for a TEMPORARY/HOURLY TRADES HELPER (full-time, Day, Rotating/Variable shifts). This individual will be responsible for maintenance and alterations, including equipment repair and updates, installation, operating equipment, and setting up work space.
Duties of the Consolidated Laundry Trades Helper include:
On a daily basis, be responsible for all the laundry machines by ensuring they are clean and removed of lint and grease. This is a fire prevention and equipment maintenance responsibility.
Perform preventative maintenance of equipment.
General housekeeping of the whole laundry operations plant and perform cleaning of the whole building daily.
Assist in the maintenance of washers, dryers, irons, conveyor belts, boilers, and water recycling system at the laundry.
Clean up shop and boiler rooms; service and operate a variety of hand and power tools.
Assist journey tradesworkers in performance of maintenance and alterations.
Assist in shop, set up and work from ladders and scaffolding, and clean up and maintain shop areas.
Perform miscellaneous sheet metal, carpenter, paint, electrical, plumbing, and pipefitting work under the guidance of journeyworkers.
Perform other duties as required.
High School graduation or GED Certificate AND six months' general work experience requiring use of trades tools at the unskilled level. Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license may be required.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
