UW Medicine Finance Business Systems has an outstanding opportunity for a Information Technology Systems Administrator. Reporting to the Manager of Finance Business Systems Support Services Information Technology, this individual will provide hands-on support for information technology systems for Support Services departments in the Clinical Support Services (CSS) division and the Surgical, Emergent and Integrated Clinical Services (SEICS) division at Harborview Medical Center. Major responsibilities include support of multiple mission critical Support Services systems (physical security/access control system, HVAC, telecommunications for hospital operators) systems analysis, reporting, project management and participation in all I.T. projects for the division.
System Analysis - Reviewing needs of customers, participating with operational owners in selection of systems, analyzing infrastructure requirements to support selected systems, design of infrastructure specifics.
System Administration - Support of existing systems: server support, supporting interfaces and integration between multiple systems, ensuring backups, responding to failures in infrastructure.
User Support - Fielding requests from users on all types of needs: application support, workstation support, reporting, analysis of more complex issues, training.
Application Development - Reviewing customer needs, developing specifications, programming or scripting applications to meet specifications.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other field requiring advanced computer skills AND at least two-three years of professional experience to include:
3+ years server and network administration in a Windows environment. 2+ years SQL Server administration or development. 3+ years systems analysis. 1+ years I.T. project management.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirements.
Familiarity with telephone systems, commercial lighting or HVAC control systems, or access control systems.
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
60% in an office setting, using an assigned computer to perform system administration work on multiple servers using remote access and administration tools.
25% at customers' desks for software installation and technical support, which often requires walking from building to building and using carts or dollies to move PCs/monitors/related equipment.
10% in loud, air conditioned server rooms; standing at equipment consoles; or lifting, installing, or removing servers, tape drives, UPSs, etc., sometimes weighing 50 lbs or more (with assistance from other admins for heavier equipment).
5% in meetings, requiring sitting for 1-2 hours, listening to and understanding sometimes complex conversations, taking accurate notes, discussing technical topics, and making presentations to small or medium size groups.
