Towson University is accepting applications for a MT Maintenance Mechanic Lead for the Facilities Management Department. Under general supervision, this position functions as a leader of a team involved in semi-skilled general maintenance or preventive maintenance work.
This position is responsible for performing comprehensive preventive maintenance, repairs, and inspection of mechanical systems and structural components of buildings and equipment; troubleshooting problems; assisting in determining work priorities, planning, and scheduling of assignments; preparing reports reflecting daily operations and project status; and ensuring that adequate supplies, materials, and equipment are maintained. Scheduled work hours are Monday-Friday, 3:00pm-11:30pm. Weekend duty required on rotation basis. This is an essential personnel position.
Four years of related work experience, three years of which must be in maintenance and/or preventive building maintenance work. Must be able to lift weight up to 70 lbs. and work in a standing or kneeling position for long periods of time; work in hazardous or irritating environments, tight or confining spaces, heights using ladders, lifts and scaffolds; adverse weather or temperature conditions, including snow duty; wear personal protective equipment; possesses a practical working knowledge of electro-mechanical devices, hydraulics, plumbing, lighting systems, electrical troubleshooting, and mechanics as related to the types of equipment and systems which are in the buildings under their supervision. Basic computer skills to include PC based word processing, and e-mail. Experience with building automation software and computerized maintenance work order systems preferred. Candidate must possess a valid MD driver’s license with no more than 5 points.
Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
A Criminal Background Investigation, pre-employment physical, and drug screen are required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
Salary and Benefits
