University of Maryland, Baltimore iscurrently seeking an Assistant Director of Mechanical Trades for theDepartment of Facilities, Operations and Maintenance - Mechanical Support.Oversees the operations of the mechanical division of the Operations andMaintenance Department including the operation, maintenance, repair andevaluation of HVAC, building automation and plumbing systems. Providesadministrative direction for the division including the supervision of staff.
This position has the authority toformulate, affect, interpret, or implement management policies or operatingpractices.

Develops, implements, and coordinatesmaintenance, repair and systems reliability programs for HVAC and plumbingsystems, the management of assigned staff, and coordination of efforts withother divisions, University departments, vendors and outside agencies.Manages off-shift (night and weekend) staffresponsible for monitoring facilities operations and responding to campusneeds.
Evaluates equipment condition and lifeexpectancy and arranges the replacement or repair through deferred maintenanceor facilities renewal.
Manages operations and maintenance ofcampus building automation systems
Researches, develops and implementsutilities management and conservation projects.
Reviews, plans and provides mechanicalinspections on all capital projects.
Coordinates outages of HVAC systems,plumbing systems, and related equipment.
Oversees safety training programs inarea or responsibility.
Creates a cohesive work team that workscollaboratively to achieve unit's goals. Oversees the recruitment, performance,and training of team members and continually reviews strengths and weaknessesof staff to maintain a well-trained, highly involved, and motivated team.
Performs other related duties asassigned.
Education:Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering ora related field.
Experience:Five (5) years of experience in the mechanicalfield.
Supervisory:Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
Equivalent combinationof education and experience may be considered.
