Under supervision, perform full range of journey-level controls work. Install, modify, maintain, repair and overhaul adjustment, and repair of electric, electronic, pneumatic and digitally controlled Building Automation Systems which manage the most complex Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC). Duties include but are not limited to: monitor, troubleshoot, design, modify, calibrate the programs system features.
Respond to technical and mechanical problems, either remotely or on-site; install, fabricate and implement programs or building control strategies for digitally controlled or global supervisory controlled systems. Modify programs for building automation systems; repair and maintain individual hardware and software components of applicable systems. Perform major-to-minor overhauls which include disassembling and inspecting all parts, replacing worn and defective parts, reassembling all equipment and controls, and testing to ensure proper function.
Perform major-to-minor repairs of Microprocessor-based Automation System that monitors and controls building environments. Respond to requests for service; diagnose and troubleshoot system problems, make corrections as necessary, and perform other related duties as assigned. The incumbent may serve as the department specialist on Building Automation Systems and train others on how to troubleshoot, overhaul, repair, calibrate, and test controls to facilitate the maintenance of systems.

Journey-level experience in HVAC and Building Automation Systems. May serve as the department specialist on Building Automation Systems and train others on how to troubleshoot, overhaul, repair, calibrate and test controls and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's) to facilitate the maintenance of systems.
Demonstrated experience working with HVAC controls, sub-systems and accessories and ability to configure Metasys programs using HVAC Pro Software.
Experience with BACnet, N1 & N2 architectures, Network Control Module (NCM) 350 programming capability including; Data Definition language (DDL), Graphic Programming Language (GPL), generation/modification WINNC Setup capabilities, GX9100 programming and troubleshooting capability.
Experience performing tests for systems operations, ability to determine repair needs and effectively communicate them to the supervisor.
Demonstrated experience troubleshooting operational problems and making necessary adjustments or repairs.
Demonstrated experience using and maintaining hand and power tools related to the job functions.
Demonstrated experience reading and interpreting blueprints and system diagrams.
Basic knowledge of electrical systems.
Knowledge of building codes, rules and regulations. Experience working with Uniform Building Codes, California Building Codes, International Code Council, fire codes, life/safety codes and regulations as well as ability to follow standards concerning space, access, utilities, fire and safety requirements.
Substantial knowledge and understanding of engineering fundamentals with respect to systems and equipment. Ability to observe and practice working habits and maintain security of buildings and systems.
Ability to communicate effectively; orally in writing and electronically.
Ability to work well independently, and in teams and with diverse populations.
Ability to use problem-solving skills and sound judgment. Ability to follow through and carry out work assignments.
Ability to work effectively in a service oriented environment, subject to frequently changing priorities.
Must possess and maintain a valid CA driver's license to operate UC vehicles.
DOJ/FBI and DMV background clearances required prior to hire.
Ability to work in morgues, gross anatomy and pathological laboratories where human and animal bodies or parts thereof may be exposed to view of worker.
