Job Posting: Under the close direct supervision of the Operations Supervisor and/or the designated Lead Craft Specialist, the Apprentice Craft Specialist Installs, Inspect, Operates and Repairs Major Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Equipment. Observes and assists with the performance of preventive maintenance. Use various hand tools and testing instruments to accomplish assigned tasks. Reports appropriate corrections/repairs and make referrals to the appropriate Operations Supervisor, Lead Craft Specialist, Central Dispatch or specialty shops. Performs other related duties as required. All work performed under the job description is under close and direct supervision of the designated Lead Craft Specialist and Operations Supervisor. Qualification Requirements/Preferences: Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities Educational requirements and/or preferences (Licensure, Registration, Certification, Experience, Other): Proof of EPA certificate required. Completion of high school or an equivalent trade school with related specialty or a comparable level of education and experience is required. Experience: Demonstration of basic HVAC skills required. Hospital experience preferred. Must read, write, speak English and be able to read training documents. Thorough knowledge and experience on drawing schematics, laying out work, trouble shooting of equipment and machinery is required. Able to read blueprints and schematics. Electrical and mechanical background is required. Progressively responsible experience demonstrating ability to set priorities and handle multiple projects or assignments and meet completion schedules within established time frames. Physical Demands: (e.g., lifting, standing, walking) This position requires a great deal of walking and standing. Must be able to push equipment carts and move job-related equipment. Must be able to lift fifty to eighty (50-80) pounds, stoop, bend and work in different positions for extended periods of time. Must be able to tolerate heat, noise, dust, smoke, unpleasant odors and chemicals. Must be adept at handling themselves in potentially dangerous situations and areas. Must be able to occasionally work in HOT environment.
