The Regional Director of facilities is responsible for Maintenance and Clinical Engineering teams for preventive maintenance of buildings, Clinical and non-clinical equipment, grounds and the respective fiscal budgets. Additional value for patient care requires participation as a member (Adhoc or permanent) of patient safety, accreditation, and other operational planning teams. The Regional Director is Responsible for trending energy and operational efficiencies data. Creating and implementing policies/procedures that support the provision of services. Recommends the appropriate number of staff to provide services, determine staff competence, and provide continuing staff education. Continuously improve department's performance. Performs other duties as requested. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Provides a safe environment for patients, employees, and others using the building.
Provides and maintains safe, reliable equipment systems, some of which directly support life.
Provides and maintains reliable utilities systems.
Staffs the department with qualified employees and motivates these employees tocomplete the required work effort in a timely manner.
Assigns priorities to requests and/or problems and provides subsequent services.
Determines and interprets codes and regulations covering facilities, equipment, and building systems and effecting compliance of applicable codes and regulations.
Maintenance of records including: Complete and current as-built drawings, operation, service and repair manuals for all equipment, testing calibration, routine and preventive maintenance data for all equipment and outside contractor contract files.
Assures compliance with JCAHO and/or other accrediting agencies, infection control,hazardous material and quality assurance standards.
Exhibits ethical decision making skills, in line with the Mission and Values, inperforming management responsibilities.
Exhibits knowledge of legal responsibilities and complies with federal/state regulations.
Delegates authority and responsibility where appropriate.
Establishes procedures for security of documents, equipment, etc.
Demonstrates a reasonable approach on budgetary requests.
Controls staffing, scheduling, and expenditures in relation to established standards.
Advises supervisor regarding major decisions.
Keeps Regional Directors informed of relevant concerns and new or changed policiesor procedures during monthly meetings.
Makes sound recommendations regarding changes or innovations to enable thehospital to accomplish its long range goals.
Develops and motivates staff to obtain optimal levels of performance within theirdelegated areas of responsibility.
Education: Bachelor's in engineering, business or 10 years field experience with emphasis on facilities management, energy management, mechanical systems design, construction, and/or maintenance, or closely related field. Experience: 5 years field experience with emphasis on facilities management, energy management, mechanical systems design, construction, and/or maintenance, or closely related field if accompanied with BS degree in related field Other: Knowledge of energy management program development, HVAC and lighting systems. The ability to manage budget and personnel. Strong organizational, motivational and collaborative modern management style in Matrix Organizational Structure based on compassion, integrity, and trust. Excellent problem solving skills, computer operation, Microsoft Office, oral and written presentation, and the ability to read construction documents and specifications.
