The HVAC Supervisor oversees the activities of a skilled work force including in-house and contract labor in the operation of the high-pressure boiler plants and large centrifugal chillers. This position also advises Mechanical Services Administration concerning budget, equipment acquisition and performance, and failure analyses based on sound technical skill and empirical data.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans and reviews the operations of the high-pressure boiler and large centrifugal chiller plants.
Inspects the campus facilities and advises Plant Engineering administration regarding specific needs of the Physical Plant.
Monitors and maintains all direct digital control (DDC) systems associated with the power plants.
Coordinates capital projects installations that affect power plants.
Supervises various personnel actions including hiring, promotions, evaluations, and vacation schedules.
Performs other related duties assigned.
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years' experience operating boilers from 5HP to 1500HP. Commercial refrigeration equipment greater than 40 tons. Five (5) years of related supervisory experience.
Ability to operate and maintain a power plant including high-pressure boilers and chillers over 1300 tons; Ability to handle chemical water treatment and sampling processes; must be able to use hand and power tools, properly; ability to supervise daily time-keeping, planning, and proper disciplinary procedures.
LICENSES: Valid driver's license; Shelby County 1st class steam operating license; Shelby County 1st class refrigeration operating license. (PROOF OF VARIOUS LICENSES REQUIRED UPON HIRE)
