The Senior Manager HDH Procurement is the supervisor of the professional staff supporting the HDH operations within the Integrated Procure-to-Pay Solutions (IPPS) unit of Business and Financial Services (BFS). The position is responsible for all procurement and contracting activities related to commodity areas including repair and operations (elevator maintenance, uniform services, heating & air, electrical, plumbing, keys/locks, janitorial/custodial, etc.), Furniture, Carpeting and dormitory refurbishment, Food Service commodities, Food Service equipment, etc.
This position leads/participates on UCSD campus-wide and UC system-wide strategic sourcing initiatives, as assigned; independently performs a full range of complex duties with primary emphasis toward ensuring that contractual relationships are in conformance with University procurement policies and guidelines including UC Business and Finance regulations, campus policies and procedures, applicable federal regulations, UCC, and contract law and principles.
The incumbent participates on UCSD Sustainability Teams and ensures food service products comply with the latest energy efficient technology meeting the UC system-wide Procurement sustainability policy requirements. The incumbent also ensures that UC and state requirements are met in the areas of prevailing wage and fair work/fair wage for on-site services related to UCSD facilities.
The incumbent will make recommendations and offering guidance and direction to HDH Procurement staff, Dining Services and Retail Service Managers and departmental business officers regarding appropriate positions based on professional experience and knowledge, and will plan, direct and implement Procurement programs and initiatives, coordinate special projects, and oversee department-wide problem avoidance and resolution activities.
They will also develop long-range plans affecting policies, regulations and processes, and will consult, direct and assist staff and customers in all procurement requirements, with broad open limitation to act with authority up to $250,000. This position will act on behalf of the Deputy Director of Procurement as required.
