1. Daily work activities include but are not limited to Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Boiler Operations, Cutting and Welding. 2. Utilize applicable trades/maintenance techniques and tools. 3. Make repairs and perform locates to steam plant, underground utilities (water, sewer, other), and related systems across campus. 4. Develop skills in procedures, techniques, tools, materials and equipment appropriate to trades. 5. Conduct campus utility locates using maps and related locate equipment. 6. Identify problems, determine possible solutions, and actively work to resolve the issues. 7. Work with water chemistry/treatment related to boilers and condensate systems. 8. Recognize issues or problems and determine whether action is needed. 9. Demonstrate an understanding of applicable policies and procedures, and maintain conditions that ensure a healthy and safe working environment. 10. Operate and use campus vehicles and equipment in a safe manner. 11. Understand and comply with University Safety, State, and OSHA requirements.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
1. Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. 2. Associate's degree related to Engineering preferred. 3. Minimum of two years' experience with boiler operations, mechanical and electrical in an industrial or commercial setting preferred. 4. Knowledge and experience with water chemistry/treatment related to boilers and condensate systems. 5. Must be able to understand and gain knowledge of all safety and security regulations. 6. Ability to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves, foot and eye protection, protective hearing devices (earplugs, muffs), hard hats, respirators and full body suits. 7. Ability to operate welding, cutting and fabrication equipment is desired. 8. Ability to effectively communicate the English language (reading, writing, interpretation and comprehension) required. 9. Effective skills in verbal, written and interpersonal communications. 10. Excellent communication skills are preferred. 11. Computer literate, and knowledge and skill with Google Chrome, Microsoft Word and Excel and willingness to learn new programs. 12. Ability to effectively work/interact with persons from different backgrounds and cultures. 13. Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork. 14.
